If you want the best and most successful smile-alignment results possible, it’s important that you do everything you can to keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape after your braces have been removed. If you’re not sure how to do so, our Orthodontics, Inc. team is more than happy to help you! There are four things you need to do once your braces have been removed, and those things are:
-Wear your retainer. Your teeth will still want to move out of place, which is why your orthodontist gives you the retainer. Follow the appliance instructions and you will be able to keep your teeth in the correct positions.
-Wait at least a month before you bleach or whiten your smile. Waiting will give the newly exposed enamel a chance to become less sensitive.
-Don’t binge on crunchy and chewy foods right after you’ve removed your braces. Your teeth and gums will still be a bit sensitive, and eating these foods will just make it worse. It’s best to ease into eating these products.
-Schedule a dental cleaning. This is an important step because there are areas of your smile that have been neglected during your orthodontic treatment. The appointment will allow your dental team to thoroughly and deeply clean your mouth.
