Don’t Disregard Your Child’s Orthodontic Needs

If your daughter (or son) is age 7 or younger and has yet to be evaluated by an orthodontist, it’s time to take her. Parents are the first to notice if their children’s teeth or jaws are amiss, so as soon as you see something “off,” schedule a consultation with an orthodontist. If she’s 8 or older, though, it’s still not too late. A large number of patients start treatment between 7 and 16. And, of course, an orthodontist will tell if your youngster doesn’t need any treatment.

At the office of Ortho Inc., we are committed to helping our valued patients achieve their dental goals. Our state-of-the-art office employs sophisticated diagnostic and imaging technology to study the unique dimensions of every patient’s mouth and develop a customized treatment plan to perfect the look and function of his/her orthodontic health.

Orthodontic care is a crucial factor in your child’s oral health. A well-functioning bite is made up of straight teeth and an aligned jaw. When all of those components line up together correctly, your child will able to speak clearly, and bite and chew well.

Those certainly won’t be the only benefits. Her straight teeth will make her less susceptible to cavities and gum disease; crooked teeth’s uneven surfaces and hidden crevices can be difficult to access while cleaning. Her vulnerability to chips and breaks will be significantly reduced.

Additionally, many adults are unaware that there’s a clear correlation between gum disease and heart disease. So consider your child’s orthodontic treatment as an investment in her future cardiac health.

And time isn’t on her side when not getting needed orthodontic care. It’s unfortunate but true that your child’s misaligned teeth and/or jaw won’t become straight as she gets older. In fact, ignored issues will probably become worse and harder to treat.

When she becomes an adult, her untreated teeth will work against her. Professional studies have shown that people’s beautiful smiles promote positive levels of confidence and self-esteem as perceived by themselves and others. In turn, those perceptions pave the way to enhanced social, romantic and employment opportunities.

Patient care and comfort are Ortho Inc.’s main priorities.
