How the Invisalign® Process Works

If you have chosen Invisalign®, it is likely because you are hesitant about wearing metal brackets and wires to straighten your teeth. You would love to straighten your smile without marring the beauty of it in the process. Whether you are considering taking that first step or you have already started the Invisalign journey, Dr. Jacob Spendlove and our team are happy to walk you through the Invisalign process.

First, you’ll come Orthodontics, Inc. for a consultation. Our orthodontist will perform an evaluation to determine whether Invisalign is right for you. Then a scanner will be used to create 3D images of your teeth. These images will be used to map out your customized treatment plan. This will include the exact movement of your teeth and your projected orthodontic treatment time.

Your Invisalign aligners will be made and your first set will be issued to you. Wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, or as recommended by our orthodontist. Your Invisalign aligners can be taken out when you eat and when you brush and floss your teeth.

Each set of Invisalign aligners will gradually and gently move your teeth to their correct positions. You will receive your next set of aligners about every week and checkups at Orthodontics, Inc. will be scheduled about every six weeks or as needed.

Once your Invisalign treatment is finished, Dr. Jacob Spendlove may recommend that you use a retainer to hold the positions of your newly straightened teeth until they stabilize. This can keep the teeth from drifting back to their original positions.

We welcome you to contact our office at (928) 774-0881 today to learn more about Invisalign in Flagstaff, Arizona, and to set up a visit.
