Problems Adjusting to New Braces? We’re There for You!

Wouldn’t it be nice if things always went perfectly according to plan? Unfortunately, life does throw us the occasional curveball, so it’s best to be prepared to make adjustments when one comes our way.

Even though the process of getting braces is quicker and more comfortable than ever before, thanks to all the advances in techniques and materials, situations may arise during orthodontic treatment that need to be addressed.

Rest assured that the orthodontists at the office of Orthodontics, Inc. will be available to respond to any concerns our patients have, whether by phone, or, if necessary, during an “emergency visit.”

At the beginning of treatment with our specialists, our staff prepares patients with a list of do’s and don’ts with their new braces, including which foods are best avoided, and which habits to steer clear of, such as chewing on pens, pencils, bottle caps or other hard objects. But even when a patient is following all the guidelines, some issues may arise, such as discomfort from the new appliance, or perhaps a loose or broken wire. If a patient can’t manage the problem at home until his or her next appointment, they may require our immediate attention.

Here's a list of some of the more common complications that may crop up while adjusting to new braces:

  • Soreness or discomfort

  • A loose bracket

  • A poking, popped or broken wire

  • A loose molar band

  • A dislodged elastic ligature band

At the office of Orthodontics, Inc., our award-winning orthodontic team strives to deliver a comfortable experience for every patient as we create a beautiful, long-lasting smile. If adjustments or replacements to our services are required, our patients can rest assured they will be cared for every step of the way. Don’t hesitate to contact our office today to learn about all the treatment options that are available.
