What Do I Do Now That My Braces Are Off?

If you’ve recently had your braces removed, good for you! You now have the beautiful, strong, and healthy smile you deserve. However, that will only last if you take good care of your teeth and gums. If you do not take good care of your smile, your teeth will move out of place and you may begin to suffer from major dental issues. So, to help you keep your smile and oral health in tip-top shape, our Yuma Orthodontics, Inc. team recommends doing the following things:

-Wear your retainer as recommended. Wearing your retainer will help keep your teeth in their new positions and it will help you maintain your straight and healthy smile.

-If you’re interested in whitening your teeth, please wait at least a month. Your teeth might still be sensitive from the braces, so it’s best to give them time to recover.

-Don’t immediately rush out and binge on the crunchy and chewy foods that were forbidden during your treatment. It’s best to ease into eating these products.

-Schedule a dental cleaning. This is extremely important because there may be areas in your mouth that have been neglected during your treatment. Your dental appointment will allow your dental team to deeply clean your smile and reduce your chances of falling victim to a major dental issue.
